There is no escape in store for Jaime King.
The actress is returning to Lionsgate’s Escape Plan action series, joining the cast of the third installment.
Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista, who topline the upcoming Escape Plan 2, are back in the thriller, which is co-written and being directed by John Herzfeld. Production began earlier this week.
Many plot details are being kept under lock and key, but King will reprise the role of the franchise’s female lead, a woman named Abigail Ross, who is kidnapped and held in an (almost) impenetrable prison facility.
This year is proving to be busy one on the film side for the former Hart of Dixie actress. King saw her dramedy Bitch, which also starred Jason Ritter and Marianna Palka, premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival, and she shot Escape Plan 2, which marks her debut in the action franchise. (The movie has no release date at this stage.)
King recently shot Ice Cream in the Cupboard, an indie drama adapted from the book by Pat Moffett, and she is also due to shoot How to Cook Your Daughter, a drama based on a memoir by Jessica Hendra and Blake Morrison. The memoir tells of Hendra’s experience growing up as the daughter of a National Lampoon editor and suffering verbal and sexual abuse at his hands.
King is repped by Gersh, WME, manager Oren Segal and Myman Greenspan.
