James Corden, the host of CBS’ The Late Late Show, will host the 20th edition of the Hollywood Film Awards — an event that bills itself as “the official launch of the awards season” — at the Beverly Hilton on Nov. 6, Dick Clark Productions.
Securing the return of Corden, an Emmy and Tony winner who also hosted last year’s ceremony, is a major coup for DCP, which established a partnership with HFA founder Carlos de Abreu in 2013. (Corden’s The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special just won an Emmy for outstanding variety special.)
“Entertaining a room full of the world’s biggest stars is no easy feat, but James Corden commanded the room at last year’s Hollywood Film Awards with incredible grace and wit,” DCP CEO Allen Shapiro said Wednesday in a statement. “We are thrilled to have him return for a second consecutive year.”
In the coming weeks, the HFAs will announce this year’s honorees in categories recognizing films, directors, writers and actors, as well cinematography, composing, costume design, film editing, makeup & hairstyling, production design, sound and visual effects.
More than 110 people who received an HFA honor in years past went on to garner an Oscar nomination, and in many cases a win, later that same season.
