Jamie Foxx will lend his voice to the animated feature Groove Tails.
The Django Unchained actor will play Biggz, a mouse that has a few outstanding cheese debts and finds himself caught up in the world of competitive street dancing.
Foxx will also act as the film’s producer, alongside Michael Becker of Imprint Entertainment and Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi of AMBI.
First-time feature director Cameron Hood — who has served in the animation departments on movies like Despicable Me 2, How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda 2 — will helm the project.
The computer-generated film will be animated in Toronto at AMBI’s AIC Studios.
Foxx is currently filming Sleepless Night, where he plays a corrupt Las Vegas cop that must find his kidnapped son who has been hidden somewhere in a casino. T.I. and Dermot Mulroney also star in the project. Foxx’s last movie, the family friendly musical Annie, grossed more than $130 million worldwide.
He is repped by CAA, LBI Entertainment, and Del & Shaw.
