Jennifer Lynch to Direct ‘A Fall From Grace’ (Exclusive)

Director Jennifer Lynch has more dark corners to look into.

Lynch (Surveillance) will next helm the thriller A Fall From Grace, about a homicide detective tracking a serial killer along the Mississippi River who burns his victims. She wrote the screenplay with Eric Wilkinson, who will produce with Apothecary Films partner David Michaels. Filming will take place in the St. Louis area.

“It has been an incredible process, writing this piece,” says Lynch. “I’m not sure what demons of my own I may have been exorcising, or if I simply felt more challenged by such a darkness. But I truly feel something intense and different was at work here.”

Apothecary partner Jory Weitz (Napoleon Dynamite) will serve as an executive producer and the film’s casting director.

Wilkinson got the inspiration for the story when he videotaped his walk across the abandoned Old Chain of Rocks Bridge over the Mississippi near St. Louis, only to find out later that two young women were murdered there in 1991.

“Along with her unique perspective on all matters dark, Jennifer brings a caliber of class and commitment that I’ve long-strived for on this project,” says Wilkinson. “It’s truly been an honor to have my original draft stoke her creative fire. The depth of her rewrite has taken the script to soaring heights and she’s raised the bar. From the beginning, Jennifer was our only choice to direct this film.”

Repped by Anthem Entertainment, Lynch has written and directed the films Hisss and Boxing Helena. She just wrapped Rabbit for an Anchor Bay Films and Myriad Pictures release later in 2012.
