The jewelry store at the center of Lindsay Lohan’s felony grand theft case is releasing surveillance video that allegedly shows Lohan stealing a $2,500 necklace.
Kamofie & Co., which is based in Venice, Calif., has reportedly been working with a broker to sell the footage and also plans to stream the video online at a website dubbed NecklaceVideo.com.
The site was set up by Beverly Hills-based software firm Spencer Co., which doesn’t specify the nature of its relationship with the jewelry store but directs all press inquiries about rights to publish the video to the Associated Press.
“Speculation as to what occurred that day has been the subject of intense rumor in the media and elsewhere,” a statement on the website reads. “Many individuals want to be able to see the video streams from the jewelry store’s surveillance cameras, and we have obtained the exclusive license for them. The tapes speak for themselves.”
People interested in being alerted when the video goes live can sign up for an e-mail reminder.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight reportedly has inked a deal to for rights broadcast the footage. On its website, ET posted “exclusive photos” from the surveillance camera and plans to air the video, which it says it “licensed exclusively from AP,” on Monday’s show.
Lohan has pleaded not guilty. It’s unclear how the release of any surveillance video would affect her case, but ET’s story notes that the actress “is clearly visible in the photos, which show her shopping around the store and trying on jewelry pieces.”
