Jillian Bell is ready to face the music.
Bell has joined Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in Bill & Ted Face the Music, the third installment of the series that dates back to 1989 and centers on time traveling slackers Bill S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Ted “Theodore” Logan (Reeves). Bell will play a couples therapist who works with both men’s families.
Face the Music picks up with Bill and Ted decades after audiences last saw them. Now middle aged men with daughters of their own, the duo have never fulfilled their rock ‘n’ roll destinies. They set out on an adventure after a visitor from the future warns them only their song can save all life as we know it and bring harmony for the universe.
Bell broke out as one of the cast of Comedy Central’s Workaholics and has the Amazon Studios feature Brittany Runs A Marathon, which she also executive produced, out Aug. 23. She will also voice star in Fox’s animated series Bless the Harts. Her previous credits include HBO’s Eastbound & Down, Rough Night and 22 Jump Street.
Galaxy Quest filmmaker Dean Parisot is directing Face the Music from a script by screenwriting duo Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who penned 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.
Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey producer Scott Kroopf is producing the new movie alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce on behalf of Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh, R. Scott Reid, John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer and John Santilli are acting as executive producers. Media entrepreneur and producer David Haring and Patrick W. Dugan of Dugan Entertainment are financing. Orion Pictures will release Face the Music via its United Artists label. Endeavor Content is handling international sales for the title.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is set for Aug. 21, 2020.
Bell is represented by UTA, 3 Arts and Stone, Genow, Smelkinson, Binder & Christopher, LLP.
