Last Week Tonight host John Oliver has superhero fatigue.
Though his HBO show is on hiatus, he shared a web exclusive in which he complains about seeing the same old superheroes every year — going on to lampoon the names of three major comic book movies released this year: Mean Spider-Man (Deaddpool), Sad Man vs. Super Sad Man (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Insane Clown Posse Takes Manhattan (Suicide Squad).
His solution? Hollywood picking up an original hero — a fifth grade creation of his called Johnny Strong.
“Johnny Strong is a kickass hero with a bad attitude. He’s seen a boob, and he knows what the f-word is. He intrepidly battles villains such as Doc Bedtime,” he says. “And of course there’s the dreaded Mrs. Thomas, the clarinet teacher.”
Oliver has enough material for a whole movie — and hopes someone in Hollywood is taking note.
Last Week Tonight returns Sept. 25 on HBO.
