Yeah, he’s back.
Action film franchise John Wick is coming to video games. Publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment, in partnership with Lionsgate, announced Wednesday that it was working on the upcoming John Wick Hex, a “fast-paced, action-oriented strategy game” that puts players in the shoes of the titular deadly assassin made famous by Keanu Reeves. Veteran game director Mike Bithell will helm the project.
The game is currently in development for consoles and PC. There is no release date yet. It will be made exclusively available on the Epic Games Store for PC users when it launches.
The film franchise, known for its practical stunts and action sequences, has grossed more than $100 million at the box office. The series’ third film, John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, hits theaters May 17.
The creative and stunt teams behind the films are working in close cooperation with the Good Shepherd team to capture the “gun fu style” of the franchise and translate it to an interactive experience.
Stars Ian McShane and Lance Reddick will both lend their voices to the game, as well as other actors from the films who will be revealed at a later date.
John Wick Hex will feature an original main story created for the game, as well as unlockable weapons (which feature finite and “realistically simulated” ammunition), suit options and locations.
