Paramount has picked up Escape, an action adventure project that has Jon M. Chu attached to produce.
Tze Chun, who has written episodes of Once Upon a Time, is behind Escape, which centers on a group of tech-savvy criminals who are recruited on mission.
Chu will produce with Hieu Ho from Chu Studios.
In addition to his work on Once Upon a Time, Chun directed and co-wrote Cold Comes the Night, a thriller that starred Bryan Cranston and Alice Eve. He is repped by WME and Oasis Media Group.
Chu directed G.I. Joe: Retaliation for Paramount, as well as the studio’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never documentary. The filmmaker continues to ping-pong between the action and music worlds and is currently in post-production on Now You See Me: The Second Act for Lionsgate.
Also in the can for Chu is the upcoming Jem and the Holograms, based on the music-themed Hasbro toy line. The film, which he produced and directed, will be released by Universal in October.
Chu and Chu Studios are repped by WME and Principato-Young Entertainment.
