Jon Orsini and Ruby Modine have joined John Malkovich, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Thaddeus Street in pandemic-inspired thriller The Survivalist for Yale Productions.
Directed by Jon Keeyes from an original script by Matthew Rogers, the movie takes place after the fall of civilization from a viral outbreak. Orsini will play the role of Owen, a once ordinary man before the outbreak who for protection and camaraderie finds himself the unwilling follower of Aaron (Malkovich), a dangerous, violent and psychopathic gang leader.
Modine will play Sarah, a young woman believed to be immune to the virus and taken prisoner in a refugee camp and eventually befriended by a former FBI agent (Rhys Meyers) who protects her from Aaron, who in turn believes he can use her to save the world.
Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman are producing via their Yale Productions banner alongside Keeyes. Executive producers and financiers include Michael J. Rothstein, Roman Kopelevich, Richard Switzer, Ian Niles, Michael Barnett, Rob Dubar, Peter Anske, Lee Broda, Joel Michaely, Gregory Ruden, Michael and Jackie Palkovicz and Bill Green.
Red Sea Media is handling international sales.
Orsini was recently seen in director Kitty Green’s feature The Assistant, opposite Julia Garner. He also starred in Horton Foote’s The Young Man From Atlanta, and in Hamish Linklater’s The Whirligig, opposite Zosia Mamet.
Best known for her starring role in the hit Showtime series Shameless, Modine’s credits include co-starring in Happy Death Day. She also wrapped Deon Taylor’s indie feature Don’t Fear.
Orsini is repped by APA and Brookside Artist Management. Modine is repped by APA. Yale Productions is repped by APA.
