Jonathan Rhys Meyers rocks out as The Clash frontman Joe Strummer in The Hollywood Reporter‘s first look at London Town.
The Stonewall actor portrays the iconic musician in the ‘70s-set drama, which follows a teen who is introduced to the iconic punk band by his estranged mother.
H8RZ helmer Derrick Borte directed the film, which is now in postproduction. Its cast also includes Dougray Scott, Natascha McElhone, Daniel Huttlestone and Tom Hughes.
Sofia Sondervan of Dutch Tilt Film is producing along with Christine Vachon of Killer Films and Tom Butterfield of Culmination Productions, in association with WeatherVane Productions.
Cargo Entertainment and Radiant Films International are selling the film, which uses a number of iconic songs from The Clash’s repertoire, including “White Riot,” “(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais” and “Clampdown,” at AFM.
ICM Partners and CAA are handling North American rights.
