The secretive Harvey Weinstein assistant project may have found its lead in Ozark star Julia Garner.
The actress is in talks to star in Kitty Green’s (Casting JonBenet) currently untitled movie, which will be told from the perspective of a real-life Weinstein underling.
James Schamus (Brokeback Mountain), the former Focus Features head turned producer, is on board to produce alongside Scott Macaulay.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed back in September that the project was being secretly shopped around at this year’s TIFF. The project is only one of several inspired by the well-documented fall of the movie mogul, including documentaries from Embankment Films (Weinstein) and Barry Avrich (The Reckoning: Hollywood’s Worst Kept Secret).
Garner just earned a SAG best actress nomination for her role on Jason Bateman’s Netflix series. Her other credits include Waco, The Americans and the currently airing Bravo series Dirty John. She is repped by UTA and Sloane Offer.
