In Joe Johnson's film, Williams played a man trapped in a board game who's unleashed when two kids (Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce) roll the dice.
Sony’s Jumanji remake is getting its game on.
Scott Rosenberg, the writer behind such late 1980s hits Con Air and Gone in 60 Seconds, has been tapped to work on the script to the redo of the 1995 hit that starred Robin Williams.
At the same time, Jeff Pinkner, one of the scribes hailing from JJ Abrams’ stable of genre TV shows Alias, Lost and Fringe, has been brought on board to consult on the project.
The movie is a priority for the studio which has set a Dec. 25, 2016 release date.
The original movie adapted a book by Chris Van Allsburg and told of two kids who let loose a man trapped decades in a board game. Unfortunately, they also unleash a jungle’s worth of creatures into the world.
Rosenberg and Pinker are partners are their Midnight Radio production banner and are co-creators of the CBS show Zoo.
