In Safe Spaces, Justin Long plays Josh, a New York City professor who, while dealing with a controversial incident at his college, re-connects with his dysfunctional family.
But amid the drama in his own life, Josh — along with his mother (Fran Drescher) and sister (Kate Berlant) — is also dealing with the imminent loss of his sick grandmother (Lynn Cohen). Richard Schiff plays Josh’s distant father, who tries to balance being supportive while managing his new wife and young son.
Here, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts a clip from the film ahead of its April 29 world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival. In it, Long’s character has an awkward run-in with a student, made worse by his sister.
Safe Spaces, written and directed by Daniel Schechter, also stars Michael Godere and Becky Ann Baker.
