Kino Lorber has picked up North American rights to Touch Me Not, Adina Pintilie’s provocative drama/documentary hybrid that won this year’s Berlin International Film Festival.
The feature centers on a filmmaker (played by Pintilie) documenting several characters as they explore their sexuality and try to achieve true physical and emotional intimacy. Moving fluidly between fiction and documentary, Touch Me Not won both the best first feature award and Berlin’s Golden Bear for best film at this year’s festival.
“Touch Me Not pushes the envelope in every direction,” said Kino Lorber svp Wendy Lidell (who negotiated the deal with Doc & Film CEO Daniela Elstner), “erasing the line between fiction and documentary and looking deeply into a place films rarely look so honestly: our most fundamental experiences of intimacy and sexuality in all its forms. Audiences will find their lives changed by Touch Me Not.”
Touch Me Not will screen in the Discovery section of the Toronto International Film Festival next month.
Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release for January 2019, followed by a VOD and home video bow.
