The Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association named La La Land the year’s top film — one of seven awards won by the song-and-dance romance.
The Lionsgate title also won for director and original screenplay — both by Damien Chazelle — as well as editing, production design, cinematography and original score.
The acting awards went to Casey Affleck and Lucas Hedges for Manchester by the Sea, Natalie Portman for Jackie, Mahershala Ali for Moonlight, Viola Davis for Fences, and the ensemble of Hell or High Water. In two new categories, Mark Rylance won Best Motion Capture Performance for The BFG, and Liam Neeson won Best Voice Performance for A Monster Calls.
Kubo and the Two Strings, The 13th, Arrival and Elle were also among the winners.
