“Damien Chazelle had such a vision of this musical film,” said La La Land producer Marc Platt during THR‘s producer roundtable, adding that Chazelle’s commitment reminds him of director Steven Spielberg’s. “It’s the same kind of focus. He knows every shot of the film, and he works so hard and with such love of filmmaking.”
Platt has worked with Spielberg on Bridge of Spies, Ang Lee on Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and Chazelle on La La Land.
More roundtables featuring actors and actresses, screenwriters, songwriters, directors, composers, and documentary filmmakers will continue to roll out throughout February in print and online. Tune in to new episodes of Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter starting Jan. 15 on Sundance TV and look for clips at THR.com/topic/roundtables with full episodes on THR.com after broadcast.
