LONDON — Lachlan Nieboer (Downton Abbey) and Nora-Jane Noone (The Descent) have signed to star in Simon Pummell’s psychological thriller Brand New-U.
A U.K.-Irish–Netherlands co-production written and directed by Pummell (Shock Head Soul), Brand New-U is produced by Janine Marmot (No Greater Love).
Brand New-U is about a man who discovers he’s not unique and other versions of himself are hunting him down. He must kill his other selves to create himself anew and search for the woman he loves.
The project began shooting this week for four weeks in London and Dublin.
The movie is produced by Marmot (Hot Property Films) in co production with Conor Barry and John Keville (SP Film) and Reinier Selen (Rinkel Film) in association with Keith Griffiths’ Illuminations Films (Berberian Sound Studio) and Finite Films.
The film is bankrolled by the BFI Film Fund, the Irish Film Board, the Netherlands Film Fund and Finite Films.
International sales will be handled by The Match Factory.
Pummell’s resume boasts work with moving images across multiple platforms and is best known for the feature documentary Bodysong that won a BAFTA and a BIFA among other awards.
His most recent film Shock Head Soul debuted at the 68th Venice Film Festival 2011, while the associated gallery installation ‘The Sputnik Effect’ was shown at TENT Gallery Rotterdam during the IFFR 2012.
