The Israeli film Baba Joon will have its U.S. premiere as the opening night screening at Los Angeles’ Israel Film Festival.
The family drama, directed by Yuval Delshad, follows the story of a small family turkey farm, the father who runs it and his teenage son who is reluctant to go into the family business.
The movie screened in the contemporary world section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and is Israel’s submission for best foreign language film at the 88th Academy Awards.
Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin will be honored at the festival’s opening night gala with the 2015 IFF Achievement in Film & Television.
“We are thrilled to honor writer and producer Aaron Sorkin this year for his impressive individual contributions to the film and television industries,” said Meir Fenigstein, founder and executive director of IsraFest Foundation.
The opening night gala will take place on Oct. 28 at the Steve Tisch Cinema Center at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.
The Israel Film Festival will run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 19.
