Leslie Mann and Kat Dennings have joined the voice cast of The Croods 2, DreamWorks Animation’s sequel to its 2013 hit.
The new movie continues the prehistoric misadventures of the caveman family and their one Homo sapiens companion. Nicolas Cage is back as the dad, Emma Stone reprises the feisty daughter and Ryan Reynolds is returning as Guy, the human. Also returning are Catherine Keener and Clark Duke.
Mann is the matriarch of an upscale family that competes with the Croods. Dennings will voice the new family’s daughter, someone whose instinct to hunt is being suppressed.
“Kat Dennings and Leslie Mann are both brilliant comedic actresses, and we’re so excited to add them to the mix for The Croods 2, where they’ll join an already stellar and hilarious returning cast including Emma Stone and Nicolas Cage,” said Bonnie Arnold and Mireille Soria, DWA’s co-presidents of feature animation, in a joint statement.
Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders, who wrote the screenplay and directed the first one, are back for more prehistoric action.
CAA-repped Mann is no stranger to animation; last year her voice was featured in two productions: Rio 2 and Mr. Peabody & Sherman.
Dennings has done voice work for shows such as American Dad and Robot Chicken, but this will be her feature voice cast debut. She is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Sloane Offer.
