Lin-Manuel Miranda Tackling Epic Fantasy ‘Kingkiller Chronicle’

Miranda, who did original music for Disney’s latest animated feature, Moana, will also lead musical development on the project, and is expected to compose and write original songs.

 

“Pat Rothfuss‘ Kingkiller books are among the most read and re-read in our home. It’s a world you want to spend lifetimes in, as his many fans will attest. Pat also writes about the act of making music more beautifully than any novelist I’ve ever read,” said the Tony-winner in a statement. 

 

Kingkiller chronicles the life and times of Kvothe, a magically gifted young man and famous musician who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen.

 

Lionsgate has a multipronged plan on adapting the epic fantasy book, simultaneously developing movies and a a premium quality drama series, the latter of which will expand on the world outside of the books.

 

Lindsey Beer, one of the writers working on Transformers 5, has been tapped to adapt the first book in the series, The Name of the Wind, for the big screen. 

 

Since Name of the Wind was published in 2007, a second novel as well as three novellas have been added to the series, which has sold more than 10 million copies.
