The Little Rascals remake has cast its Spanky.
Jet Jurgensmeyer has landed the role of the scheming rascal in the Universal Home Entertainment straight-to-home video movie, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
This latest reboot of The Little Rascals, centered on a group of misfit kids that first broke through in the ’20s and ’30s with Hal Roach-produced shorts, follows a ragtag team of children as they try to raise money to help their beloved adopted grandma (Doris Roberts), who is about to lose her bakery to millionaire Big Ray Kaye (Greg Germann).
Their hare-brained schemes, masterminded by the adorably chubby, self-appointed leader Spanky (Jurgensmeyer), result in comical disaster. Their last hope is to perform on a TV talent show, but they find themselves up against competition to win the money.
Toddlers and Tiaras star Eden Wood will play Darla with Drop Dead Diva‘s Lex Medlin also part of the ensemble.
Alex Zamm, who directed Inspector Gadget 2 and Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, is directing the movie. Zamm also wrote it with partner Billy Robertson. Mike Elliot is producing.
Jurgensmeyer is repped by the Osbrink Agency and Discover Management in Los Angeles and by The Block Agency in Nashville. He has several projects coming down the pipeline including Devil’s Knot with Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth and Pasadena with Cheryl Hines.
