Courtesy Everett CollectionTony To is boarding Lucasfilm as head of production and development, moving over from Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, where he served as executive vp production for the past three years.
He’ll report directly to Lucasfllm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Lucasfilm has six new films and several TV projects currently on its slate, including J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII, of course, as well as the Star Wars Rebels animated series and two recently announced stand-alone Star Wars films from directors Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank. To’s responsibilities include Industrial Light & Magic, led by Lynwen Brennan and John Knoll; Skywalker Sound led by Josh Lowden; production led by Jason McGatlin; and creative development led by Kiri Hart.
In addition, he will continue to oversee Disney’s co-development program with Shanghai Media Group Pictures to develop Disney-branded movies for China and other markets.

At Disney, To was responsible for physical production on live-action titles including Maleficent.
Earlier, he produced the Tom Hanks miniseries From the Earth to the Moon for HBO and Imagine Entertainment and was co-executive producer alongside Hanks and Steven Spielberg on the network’s 10-part Band of Brothers, as well as its follow-up, The Pacific. To also directed episodes of The Pacific, Band of Brothers and House M.D.
