Lynda Carter is a fan of the recent commercial featuring a little boy buying a Wonder Woman doll.
The commercial from Navy Exchange — a retail store chain owned and operated by the United States Navy — tells a short tale of a boy who buys a Wonder Woman doll because it reminds him of his mother, who is serving overseas.
“So heartwarming!” Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the 1970s series, said via Twitter. “Thinking of all those serving our country who can’t be with their families this holiday season.”
The commercial, directed by Lissette Feliciano and a bit more than two minutes in length, opens on a boy shopping with his dad as he reminisces about his mother and how they played superheroes together; he is dressed as Superman and she as Wonder Woman.
The clerk tells the boy that the doll has a superpower: whatever he tells it, his mother will hear. The boy takes the doll everywhere and talks to it regularly, while his dad helps get the messages to his mom on the sly.
The boy finally asks the doll for his mom to please come home.
The video has a happy ending.
