Man of Steel has revealed its third trailer, and it’s a doozy. From baby Kal-El being sent away from Krypton to Clark discussing his alien roots with Pa Kent to menacing confrontations with General Zod, it gives a much fuller sense of the film’s scope than previous trailers had revealed.
A few key moments:
Lois Lane (Amy Adams) appears to have been tracking Superman for some time — attempting to locate an urban legend of a man who has popped up around the world doing heroic deeds. Later, as she interviews Superman in what appears to be a military base interrogation room, the two show they have chemistry as they discuss the “S” on his chest.

Jor-El (Russell Crowe) says goodbye to his son as Krypton is destroyed. “He’ll be an outcast. They’ll kill him,” remarks Superman’s Kryptonian mother, Lara Lor-Van (Ayelet Zurer). “How?” Jor-El asks, showing he knows his son will be unstoppable on Earth.
Later voiceovers show that just like in the Christopher Reeve Superman films, Jor-El believes his son will be source of inspiration for humanity. Meanwhile, Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) seems to have convinced his son to hide his alien nature for fear humankind will reject him.
And glimpses of a very angry General Zod (Michael Shannon) suggest the supervillain may have a run-in with Superman’s Kansas family.
From director Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, the Warner Bros. film hits theaters June 14.
