AP ImagesMark Hamill is a little bit worried about how excited fans are getting about this December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it seems.
Talking to the Hero Complex blog, Hamill revealed that he wished fans would “relax” about the upcoming movie. “We’re not trying to play games with people,” he said when talking about the amount of security that surrounded the making of J.J. Abrams‘ revival of the space fantasy series. “We just want to maximize their experience at the movies where it should be seen and not have it leaked over the Internet. Believe me, it will be here before you know it.”
He went on to suggest that the audience should “forget about it [and] look forward to all the summer movies,” adding, “I’m telling you, it’s just a movie. These people that build it up in their minds like it’s going to be the second coming of, I don’t know what — they’re bound to be disappointed.”
Cue the inevitable Internet response of either suspecting that this is an intentional disinformation campaign to lower expectations because Hamill doesn’t like the movie and/or because it’s even better than people suspected and everyone involved wants to blow our minds later this year. Well played, Mr. Hamill. Well played indeed.
