Just weeks after announcing the project’s existence — and two months before it was set to debut — Marvel Entertainment has cancelled The Vision, a six-issue comic book series by novelist Chelsea Cain, critic Marc Mohan and artist Aud Koch, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The cancellation of the series was initially announced to retailers Thursday morning, with Bleeding Cool sharing the information online shortly afterwards. Marvel confirmed the cancellation to THR but declined to comment further.
On social media, Cain addressed the news in two tweets and noted that the project had been in the works for two years. Four of the six issues had been completed at the time of cancellation.

I’m incredibly proud of the 4 issues we’ve turned in so far. It’s been 2 years of work. And reflects tremendous effort by an incredibly talented team. It kills me that we won’t get to share them…Forgive me, Viv. https://t.co/wGj65AFDZv

.@Marvel asked me to keep this “clean and quiet” because apparently they’ve never met me. HI, GUYS, I’M THE ONE WHO’S THE PAIN IN THE ASS. REMEMBER ME NOW?

Sources told THR that the decision to cancel the project was not made lightly, but came down to a shift in long-term publishing plans for both the superhero Vision and his daughter, Viv, who was slated to be one of the primary characters in the new series.
This is the second Marvel series Cain has worked on that came to a controversial end. Her 2016 series Mockingbird was cancelled eight issues in, amid a wave of targeted harassment that led her to temporarily leave Twitter. Her partner on that project, Kate Niemczyk, is the artist on Cain’s upcoming Image Comics title Man-Eaters, which is set to launch later this month.
