Marvel Studios is going big for its 10th anniversary.
The studio will rerelease all 20 of its films on Imax for a limited run. Unlike Marvel movie marathons, which have taken place over several days and require audiences to buy one expensive ticket, tickets for each film will be sold separately, beginning with 2008’s Iron Man on Aug. 30 and running through Sept. 6.
Here’s the schedule:
Aug. 30: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor
Aug. 31: Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World
Sept. 1: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man
Related Stories
Sept. 2: Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming
Sept. 3: Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp
Sept. 4: Iron Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther, Doctor Strange
Sept. 5: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Captain America: Civil War, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War
Sept. 6: Fans will vote for two screenings.
For some of these films, such as Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Captain America: The First Avenger, this will be the first time they are screened in Imax. 2010’s Iron Man 2 was the first Marvel Studios movie to get an Imax screening, and April’s Avengers: Infinity War was the first studio feature to be shot entirely on Imax cameras.
Ironically, Iron Man will now be in theaters at the same time as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, the other 2008 film that redefined the superhero genre. In honor of the 10th anniversary of Nolan’s magnum opus, it too is in Imax theaters for a limited engagement later this month.
