Alonso is currently executive producing James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok. In her executive role, she oversees postproduction and visual effects for the studio slate.
She executive produced Doctor Strange, Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 3, as well as Marvel’s The Avengers. She co-produced Iron Man and Iron Man 2 with director Jon Favreau, Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, and Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger.
Her earlier credits in VFX included working with such directors as Ridley Scott (Kingdom of Heaven), Tim Burton (Big Fish) and Andrew Adamson (Shrek).
Alonso’s also been a vocal advocate for the hiring of more women in Hollywood.
“Victoria has elevated visual effects as an integral element of the art and business of moviemaking,” said VES Board chair Mike Chambers in a statement. “She is an amazing creative force and powerhouse producer, whose unique vision has delivered some of the most popular movie franchises of all time. Her leadership in the industry is paving the way for future generations of artists and producers and she has helped redefine the profile of visual effects on a global scale.”
