Adi Granov/Marvel EntertainmentIt seems that Secret Wars won’t be the only comic book event that Marvel Entertainment revives in 2015. In a pair of new images released over the past couple of days, the publisher has additionally teased returns for Civil War, Age of Ultron and Marvel Zombies.
Unlike last week’s Secret Wars announcement, Marvel is keeping quiet about exactly what these teaser images mean, with the publisher only appending a “Summer 2015” tag to both images.

The original Civil War was a storyline which ran from 2006 through 2007 across a number of series, with Iron Man and Captain America leading opposing factions of heroes and villains over the issue of whether or not superheroes should register their identities with the U.S. government. The best-selling storyline, which may form the basis of 2016’s third Captain America movie, led to Tony Stark becoming director of SHIELD and Captain America’s temporary “death.”

Age of Ultron, which shares its name — but not its plot — with next year’s second Avengers movie, was a 2013 time-travel storyline in which Wolverine and the Invisible Woman traveled into the past to prevent the Avengers villain from transforming the world into a robotic dystopia in the present day. In its original incarnation, it was entirely unrelated to the Marvel Zombie franchise, which began in 2005 with the simplest of premises: What if everyone in the Marvel Universe got infected by a zombie virus? Created by Kick-Ass’ Mark Millar — who also created and wrote Civil War — and initially written by The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman, the franchise culminated in a number of miniseries through 2012.
Considering the “Summer 2015” date given to these images, it’s possible that whatever they’re are teasing will be revealed to be part of the larger Secret Wars event, described by executive editor Tom Brevoort as Marvel’s biggest event in its 75-year history. “However massive you think this is, let me assure you it is bigger than that,” he told USA Today. So massive that it involves the curtain calls of successful storylines from Marvel’s past, perhaps?
