Having conquered comic books, the big screen and fan’s hearts, Marvel’s Avengers face a new challenge this week: re-creating their greatest hits without noses in the new video game Lego Marvel’s Avengers. The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive look at one of the cut scenes from the game.
Re-creating scenes from a number of Marvel movies, including both Avengers installments, Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor: The Dark World, Lego Marvel’s Avengers mixes the studio’s cinematic universe with the trademark humor that’s become part of all Lego video game releases.
(DLCs based on Ant-Man and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War also will be available for PlayStation gamers.)
“This scene in the middle of the battle against Ultron in Sokovia is such an iconic moment in [Avengers: Age of Ultron, that] the team really wanted to ensure that we matched that epic ‘build up’ to the final showdown, obviously with a serious injection of Lego humor,” Arthur Parsons, game director at developer TT Games, told THR about the clip.
“We get to see a little touch of the interplay between Thor and Vision that is a running joke in the game, as well as seeing the full group of Avengers coming together to save the world. As the movie did, our version makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, it’s so great seeing our heroes readying for the ultimate face off.” Except, of course, things aren’t quite as apocalyptic this time around.
Lego Marvel’s Avengers will be released Jan. 26 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Windows PC.
