Director McG (Charlie’s Angels) is circling Masters of the Universe, with an eye to directing the remake for Sony, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The project from Sony Pictures and Escape Artist has undergone a number of rewrites after being in development for some time, and McG is expected to oversee another draft. The original Masters of the Universe film was released in 1987.
The remake will follow Prince Adam, transformed into the warrior He-Man, becoming the last hope for a magical land call Eternia.
Besides movies, McG and his Wonderland banner have been busy in TV, with four series on the air: ABC Family’s Shadowhunters and comedy Kevin From Work, as well as The CW’s Supernatural and NBC’s drama Mysteries of Laura.
