For everyone still concerned over Ben Affleck‘s casting as Batman in Zack Snyder‘s upcoming follow-up to this summer’s Man of Steel, you can relax now: Michael Keaton has signed off on it.
Keaton was almost cornered by TMZ last night while leaving a restaurant and asked his opinion on the apparently controversial casting. “He’s gonna be great,” he repeated while trying to get into his car. When asked if he would consider taking another role in any future Batman-related movies, he said “I have no idea what you’re talking about, man,” before adding “I could do anything” in regards to future projects.

If you’re keeping track, that makes three former Batmen supporting the Affleck news (Val Kilmer and Adam West both offered support on Twitter), with Christian Bale staying sensibly quiet on the subject and George Clooney expressing surprise that reporters at the Venice Film Festival didn’t ask him about the topic.
Two further things appear obvious after watching the video of Keaton’s ambush interview: Firstly, Keaton is clearly far more forgiving of this kind of thing than most would be, and secondly, someone really has to try and bring Keaton back as some kind of alternate Batman in a future movie just to see if he really could do anything. Earth-2 Batman, perhaps? Someone, start a petition already.
