Michael Ryan, a partner in GFM Films, has been elected chairman of the Independent Film & Television Alliance. Ryan, who served two terms as IFTA chairman between 2003 and 2007, will succeed outgoing chairman Paul Hertzberg, president and CEO of CineTel Films.
IFTA’s annual elections for its executive committee and board of directors took place at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City and concurrently via telephone at the British Screen Advisory Council in London.
Ryan will be joined on the executive committee by Kirk D’Amico (president and CEO, Myriad Pictures), who has been re-elected as general vice-chairperson; Lise Romanoff (managing director/CEO, Vision Films), re-elected to vice chairperson/secretary; and Charlotte Mickie (president, Mongrel International), elected as vice chairperson/non-Californian.
Nicolas Chartier (CEO, Voltage Pictures), Clay Epstein (senior vp sales & acquisitions, Arclight Films) and Brian O’Shea (CEO, The Exchange) will continue in the second year of their terms on the executive committee.
Elected to the board of directors are: Paul Bales (COO and partner, The Asylum); Jason Buckley (senior vp international sales, Lakeshore Entertainment); Carl Clifton (partner, sales & marketing, K5 Media Group); Pierre David (chief strategy advisor, Reel One Entertainment); Mathilde Epstein (vp international sales, Lightning Entertainment Group); Ennis Hensley (president of international sales and distribution, The Weinstein Co.); Andrew Kramer (COO, international distribution, Lionsgate); Avi Lerner (chairman and CEO, Nu Image); Kathy Morgan (founder and president, Kathy Morgan International); and Thorsten Schumacher (managing director, Hanway Films).
Caroline Couret-Delegue (head of sales and acquisitions, Metrodome International) and Fernando Szew (partner & CEO, Mar Vista Entertainment) will serve as alternates.
Continuing in the second year of their board terms are: Tamara Birkemoe (president, Foresight Unlimited); Camela Galano (president of international, Relativity Media); Gene George (executive vp worldwide distribution, Starz Media); Jay Joyce (vp worldwide sales, Artist View Entertainment); Lloyd Kaufman (president, Troma Entertainment); Brad Krevoy (chairman & CEO, Motion Picture Corporation of America); Robbie Little (co-president, The Little Film Co.); Nicole Mackey (executive vp international sales, Fortissimo Film Sales); Barbara Mudge (president, Worldwide Film Entertainment); and Almira Ravil (senior vp international sales, Screen Media).
