Courtesy of A.M.P.A.SThe International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) will hold a candlelight walk and memorial on Friday for Sarah Jones, the 27-year-old camera assistant who was killed Feb. 20 in Georgia, during production on the upcoming Gregg Allman biopic, Midnight Rider.
Starting at the DGA at 7 p.m., Local 600 members will join union and guild members and members of the production community in a walk to the memorial service at ICG’s national offices, which is nearby on Sunset Boulevard.
Sarah’s parents, Elizabeth and Richard Jones, will attend.

“I hope that the lesson the industry takes from this awful tragedy is that there can be no short cuts in the workplace,” said ICG president Steven Poster. “A person’s life is infinitely more important than a production’s schedule or budget. Safety has to be the number one priority in our industry.”
The Society of Camera Operators is also planning a tribute to Jones on Saturday, during the SOC Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Jones was killed when she was struck by a train in Wayne County, Ga.
