Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia and Amanda Schull of SyFy’s 12 Monkeys are set to star in the suspense thriller Devil’s Gate, which will begin filming later this April.
The indie will mark the directorial debut of commercial director and Dawn of the Dead’s second unit director Clay Staub. Staub also wrote the story and screenplay for the film along with Peter Aperlo.
The film is set in a small town where an FBI Agent, played by Schull, comes to investigate the missing wife and son of a local rancher, played by Ventimiglia. The film will also feature X-Men actor Shawn Ashmore as the local deputy forced to collaborate with the outside investigator in his town, and Jane the Virgin’s Bridget Regan as the missing wife that sets the mystery into action. Jonathan Frakes, of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame, will play a sheriff who is uncomfortable with the interference of the FBI in his town.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles producer Scott Mednick of Mednick Productions and André Rouleau of Caramel Films will produce Devil’s Gate. They previously worked together on Dreamworks’ Delivery Man and the recently completed Wait Till Helen Comes with Maria Bello. Also producing are Valerie d’Auteil of Caramel Films and Ian Dimerman and Brendon Sawatzky of Inferno Pictures. Mednick Productions’ Skyler Mednick will be executive producer.
Ventimiglia is repped by CAA, Management 360 and McKuin Frankel Whitehead. Schull is repped by Innovative Artists and Sweeney Entertainment.
