Veteran Paramount and Fox executive Eric Doctorow has joined the new Miramax as Executive Vice President heading up worldwide home entertainment and distribution.
“Eric brings an unparalleled range of experience in the home entertainment business and an impressive track record of innovation and creativity — especially in library product,” said Miramax CEO Mike Lang in making the announcement.
Since Miramax’s primary focus is on exploiting the library of some 700 films acquired from Disney, the head of home entertainment is a key position for the company.
Among the relationships Doctorow will have day-to-day responsibility for managing will be long-term distribution deals with Lionsgate, Studiocanal (in Europe), Echo Bridge (for select titles in the U.S.) and Alliance Films in Canada.
“I am proud to be joining them as we all work to re-establish Miramax’s legacy of passion and excellence,” said Doctorow.
Most recently Doctorow managed MGM Home Entertainment Worldwide as the General Manager for Fox Home Entertainment. Before that he spent 20 years at Paramount, most recently as President of Paramount’s Worldwide Home Entertainment Division. Doctorow has also been Chief Operating Officer of the video game publisher THQ and Chief Operating Officer of the home entertainment distribution company Ventura Entertainment.
