NEW YORK – Miramax and NetMovies Entertainment, Brazil’s largest online subscription service for movies and TV series, on Monday unveiled a multi-year licensing agreement that will give NetMovies customers streaming access to various titles from the studio’s library.
Titles covered by the deal include Pulp Fiction, The English Patient, City of God, Amelie, There Will Be Blood and Kill Bill. They will be available on the service beginning Dec. 1, the companies said. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Under CEO Mike Lang, Miramax has been striking a range of online licensing deals.
NetMovies, which offers its streaming video across PCs, Macs, smart TVs, connected Blu-Ray players, iOS and Android tablets and smartphones – with plans to add video game consoles, said it currently has more than 35,000 titles in its online content library.
“As a devoted fan of independent cinema, I could not be more excited to bring our loyal customers such classic titles as the films included in the Miramax canon,” said Daniel Topel, NetMovies founder and CEO.
“We are very pleased that Miramax movies will now be available to the large network of customers from Brazil devoted to NetMovies’ strong platform and great service,” said Lang. “This is another key step as we take advantage of digital channels to maximize our library around the world and bring Miramax movies to new and growing audiences, especially to such an exciting and emerging market as Brazil.”
