While The Hollywood Reporter‘s exclusive report that Fox 2000 is working on a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire may have been welcome news to fans of the 1993 film, one of the movie’s most memorable castmembers wants nothing to do with the project.
Mara Wilson, who played youngest child Natalie, tweeted that she has nothing to do with the sequel and she doesn’t plan to be a part of it.

“I’ve been in some mediocre movies, but I’ve never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now,” she tweeted.
After being barraged by tweets wondering why not, Wilson clarified that she’s proud of the first film.
“I’m glad I had the chance to be in it, and I’m proud of what we did, but I don’t see how we could do it again,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Lisa Jakub — who played Robin Williams and Sally Field‘s characters’ oldest child, Lydia, and has since retired from acting — posted on Facebook that the sequel was news to her and since she hadn’t been asked to participate, she couldn’t yet comment on it and didn’t know if she would do it. But she had some ideas about what her now grown-up character would be up to.
Check out Wilson’s tweets below.
For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I.

Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end.
