Music Box Films has picked up U.S. rights to The Last Sentence, a WWII period biopic from director Jan Troell about pioneering anti-Nazi journalist Torgny Segerstedt.
The drama, which won the Best Director prize at its premiere at the Montreal World Film Festival, stars Jesper Christensen and Pernilla August. It looks at the extraordinary life of the Swedish journo Segerstedt, who fought tirelessly against Hitler and the Nazi regime until his death in 1945.
The deal was signed with TrustNordisk, which is handling worldwide rights to the title.
Music Box Films has had success with Scandinavian films in the past, particularly with the cross-over hit The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Nordisk Film is handling local distribution of The Last Sentence and plans to bow the film in Nordic territories Dec. 7.
