Games and media company N3TWORK on Wednesday launched match-3 puzzle game Funko Pop! Blitz featuring Funko Pop! versions of iconic characters in popular franchises and films.
As a collaboration with Burbank-based Tic Toc Games (the studio behind Jam City’s Panda Pop), the game will allow players to collect Funko Pop! characters from Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Shrek, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, and more.
Each character will have a super move which celebrates a big moment or characteristic from the movie or TV show they are from, such as Marty McFly sending the time machine flying, Puss in Boots’ wide-eyes, or the healing magic from E.T.’s glowing finger.
“Funko Pop! Blitz is the ultimate pop culture mashup game,” said Neil Young, CEO of N3TWORK, in a statement. “In collaboration with Tic Toc, we have created an accessible yet endlessly delightful game that blends the puzzle game mechanic with beloved characters from some of the world’s most popular entertainment franchises. Each weekly event will introduce new characters from some of the world’s most popular properties. Whatever you’re a fan of, you’re sure to find it in Funko Pop! Blitz.”
N3TWORK, which is home to the fantasy puzzle role-playing game Legendary: Game of Heroes — it’s flagship title — acquired the rights to Funko Pop! Blitz from Universal Games and its game publishing division Digital Platforms last December.
The launch of Funko Pop! Blitz kicks off with Jurassic Park, where players will collect characters including Dr. Ian Malcolm, Dr. John Hammond, Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dennis Nedry, and the Dilophosaurus.
Funko Pop! Blitz is available through the App Store for iOs and Google Play for Android.
