A screening series is in the works that will showcase films from the countries that are part of President Donald Trump’s travel ban.
The Seventh Art Stand is a nationwide event of screenings and discussions that will take place in May 2017, across 30 locations in 18 states. The series is meant as an act of cinematic solidarity against Islamophobia.
John Turturro, Ramin Bahrani, Paul Haggis, Debra Winger, Steve Buscemi, Woody Harrelson and Mary Harron are among the filmmakers and artists throwing their support behind the effort.
The 2017 Oscar-winning foreign-language feature from Iran The Salesman, will be among the films screened along with Yemeni selections Karama Has No Walls and The Mulberry House, Fishing Without Nets from Somalia and the Iraqi feature About Baghdad.
