
"The Descendants" director scores big with the L.A. and Broadcast Film Critics as the film's $24 million at the box office suggests a long run through awards season.

Two-time Academy Award winners Alexander Payne and Haskell Wexler, as well as respected commercial location scout Scott Dewees, will receive honorary awards at the debut Location Managers Guild of America Awards, to be held March 29 at the Writers Guild Theater.
Writer-director-producer Payne will receive the Eva Monley Award, named after the location scout on films including Lawrence of Arabia and The African Queen.

Director of photography Wexler will be honored with the Humanitarian Award, and Dewees will receive the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Payne’s Nebraska was nominated this year for six Oscars. He previously received Academy Awards for the screenplays of The Descendants and Sideways.

Wexler won Oscars for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Bound for Glory, in addition to nominations for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Blaze and Matewan. He has also directed and photographed many documentaries.
Veteran Dewees has won two California On-Location Awards.
