Netflix will team with producer DeVon Franklin on a faith-based feature that is inspired by a real-life COVID-19 recovery.
The project is based on the story of a pastor from Northern Ireland, Lee McClelland, who was hospitalized with COVID-19 in the spring. His health deteriorated, and he felt he was nearing death when a hospital janitor came to his room to pray over him. The next day, he says, he began to recover.
McClelland, who lives in Belfast, shared his story in a video on Facebook, where it has been viewed millions of times.
Franklin will produce via his Franklin Entertainment, which is known for faith-based content. Karen Peterkin will oversee and executive produce for Franklin Entertainment.
Randy Brown will pen the screenplay, having worked with Franklin on Miracles From Heaven.
Franklin, repped by WME and Hansen Jacobson, was most recently behind 20th Century’s Breakthrough, which earned an impressive $50 million at the global box office.
