The streamer acquired the worldwide rights for the feature from Sony Pictures, which has had to push the release date of the film several times due to the continued theatrical shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sony will be presenting the film, along with Higher Ground. The deal excludes China.
The movie, based on the book Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love by Matthew Logelin, centers on a man who loses his wife soon after childbirth and who must now raise his newborn child on his own.
Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, Melody Hurd and Paul Reiser also star. Paul Weitz directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Dana Stevens.
Marty Bowen, David Beaubaire, and Peter Kiernan produced along with Hart, who recently signed a first-look deal with Netflix via his HartBeat Productions banner.
Betsy Danbury, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, Bryan Smiley, Jaclyn Huntling Swatt, Isaac Klausner, Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin executive produce.
