Paramount's relaunch of the time-traveling sci-fi saga has the aged cyborg, in a break from tradition, tasked with keeping Sarah Connor (Clarke) alive, resulting in a timeline that differs from events seen in earlier films in the series. Such a move also suggests a possible future for the franchise that could transcend its roots — for which Schwarzenegger would happily return.

“Don’t talk much, do you?”
The latest TV spot for Terminator: Genisys doesn’t just offer the chance to see Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s aged Terminator play it cool in an interrogation room — there’s also a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse at Schwarzenegger’s fight with his younger self, as teased in earlier trailers for the time-traveling-robot thriller.
Also on display in the 30-second spot: plenty of explosions, Emilia Clarke summarizing the entire movie by saying, “We’re here to stop the end of the world,” and a brief shot of a massive missile launch. With all of Terminator history up for grabs in this stealth reboot of the franchise, could Skynet bring about judgment day after all?
