Newcomer Trey Tucker has landed a key role in The Space Between Us, STX’s intergalactic love story starring Asa Butterfield and Gary Oldman.
Peter Chelsom is directing the feature that is being produced by Richard Lewis.
The story is set in motion when, during a mission to colonize Mars led by a billionaire entrepreneur, a female astronaut is found to be pregnant. After she dies during childbirth, her son is raised in secrecy on Mars. Sixteen years later, the teen (Butterfield) begins an online romance with a Colorado girl (Britt Robertson).
He hatches a plan to meet the girl, win her heart and then find the enigmatic billionaire in hopes of uncovering information about his mother and the mysterious circumstances surrounding how he came into existence.
Tucker will play an astronaut who is involved in the childbirth.
“This is one of the most refreshing discoveries I’ve come across in a long time,” said Douglas Urbanski, the veteran manager who counts Oldman as a client and is one of the film’s executive producers. Urbanski reps the actor along with APA.
Space is currently in production.
