TORONTO – Indie distributor In Demand has picked up the U.S. rights to the Hot Docs fest title The Boxing Girls of Kabul, by director Ariel Nasr.
The National Film Board of Canadian documentary portrays young Afghan women learning boxing skills in Afghanistan’s national stadium, where only recently women were executed by the Taliban.

Produced by Annette Clarke, Nasr’s documentary has also been sold for French-speaking Canada to TV5, for Latin America TV to Direct TV and DLA, and in France to France Televisions.
Other Hot Docs market action has seen The Boxing Girls of Kabul go to DBS in Israel, KBS in Korea and in Japan to NHK.
The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival continues to May 6.
