Nick Cassavetes has dropped out of directing Fiore Films’ John Gottibiopic, Gotti: Three Generations, because of scheduling conflicts, an ICM spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter. He is currently directing the indie Yellow with Sienna Miller.
The news comes a week after Fiore Films held a press conference in New York officially announcing that John Travolta will play the notorious crime boss and that Joe Pesci will take on the role of Gotti’s pal Angelo Ruggiero.
The project, which executive producer Marc Fiore has said he is self-financing, is set to begin production in October, slated for a 2012 release.
