Nigel Clark has been promoted to the key post of president of international marketing for Sony Pictures Releasing Intl. He’ll report directly to president of worldwide marketing Marc Weinstock.
Clark will lead the team that coordinates marketing and publicity for all Sony titles, including acquisitions and local-language productions. He’ll also oversee marketing and media plans created by SPE’s local territory offices.
Sony chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution Jeff Blake announced the promotion. Clark previously served as senior executive vice president of the international department, spearheading the campaigns for box office hits including Angels & Demons, District 9, The Karate Kid and The Social Network.
He’s currently working on campaigns for Battle: Los Angeles, Bad Teacher, Zookeeper, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Men in Black 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man.
“Nigel is one of the brightest and most exceptional international marketing executives working in the industry today. He has been instrumental to the success of some of the biggest worldwide blockbusters ever released and he has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, competitors and filmmakers,” Blake said.
Clark first joined Sony in London as European marketing supervisor in 1990. In 1994, he was promoted to vice president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Two years later, Clark was tapped for the position of senior vice president, international marketing, transferring to the Los Angeles home office to oversee theatrical marketing for all territories outside of North America.
